Recently, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had mandated the telecommunications company in the country to block all sim-cards that are not registered with National identification Number (NIN ) within 2weeks.
To this effect, all subscribers are advised to update their registration records with their various operators with the National identification Number (NIN), failure to do so will lead to the disconnection or blocking of the line by December 31, 2020. Though there has been a huge public outcry about the sudden announcement of the policy and short time frame to implement it.
The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) have also directed that subscribers with more than one sim card can link their NIN to the cards.
